Day 1
Depart Christchurch at 8.15 am. The Tranz Alpine is known as one of the world's most scenic rail journeys and crosses from tussocky plains to rocky gorges to West Coast rainforest. Board your coach in Greymouth. Time in Hokitika to see the jade carvers. On arrival in Fox Glacier, a shuttle will take you to the observation point for views of the terminal face.
Day 2
Travel through the lush green scenery of the Haast Pass to the year-round alpine resort of Queenstown.
Day 3
Full day at leisure. There are plenty of activities for all tastes, from the most sedentary to the adrenaline junkie.
Day 4
A full-day excursion to cruise past Mitre Peak along the length of Milford
Sound, with many scenic photo opportunities on the way.
Day 5
Today's excursion includes stops at Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo. Weather permitting, you can take a flightseeing trip over the mountains of the Southern Alps (flight not included. Arrive back in Christchurch at 6.45 pm.
